Despite being described as a "good person", he does not care for the Light and the Angels, only balance. He is also said to believe Angels to be just as terrible as Demons for (at one point) considering to eradicate Sanctuary and his kind.
We can assume that he cares greatly for humanity's potential, Sanctuary and (perhaps most importantly) the concept of "balance". He has not been proclaimed dead in the current lore (and will supposedly appear in Diablo IV, according to his wiki page). We know that Rathma is (very likely) not dead, as he is the very first of the Nephalem/Ancient humans (son of Lilith and Inarius) and hence vastly powerful.
There are several reasons why I think it's possible that this man is actually Rathma: If there is another obvious candidate, then feel free to enlighten me. I haven't seen that much discussion or information around WHO that man may be, and I'm very intrigued by the idea of this being Rathma.
